...we saw O.U.R.ECOVILLAGE friends, brandy and patrick, arm wrestling with fundamental community issues like getting your shit together while being around other people getting their shit together...tricky business...if you've ever tried to be aware of what you say, what you do, and what you think about...man oh man...tricky, tricky, tricky..

This episode we're taking a look at canada and community living in the year 2012...we have an opportunity to come together and make the world a better place...for you, me and everyone in between...but can we pry ourselves away from our computer screens...can we pry ourselves out of our cars and our homes...can we open up our hearts completely...can we look at others with love...can we look at ourselves with love?

i've lived with roomates in apartments and houses...i've lived in intentional community's...i've wwoofed...i've land shared...and i'll tell you, it's hard fucking work to make yourself a consistently, balanced human being...we are broken...we are all broken...and some of us are trying to pick up the pieces and put ourselves back together again...and we are trying to do that in a society that doesn't give value to that...so that's why we need community's like O.U.R.ECOVILLAGE and the many others that are out there...that's why we need people to start being aware of everything that they do...if we are going to have a fighting chance with what is coming down the pipeline (speaking of pipelines...fuck that pipeline going from the tar sands to the b.c. coast!)...we are going to need to step our games up and come together...without selfish intentions, without me first, without competition...remember, we are on a living planet, filled with other living things...floating through living space...floating through a massive universe...and beyond that universe?...who knows...and if that doesn't humble you i don't know what to say...so let's drop the bullshit and start creating some new blueprints...and some new realities...now!

GREETINGS...THIS IS THE ENTITY KNOWN AS...you know what's hard?...living with people...you ever lived in a house or apartment with roommates? dude picks his nose in front of you and then wipes it on your video game controller...chicky snottily quotes nietzche during every conversation...buddy's got lou reed's metal machine music cranked all night long in an effort to convince you that it's actually good..shit can get annoying quickly...communication goes out the window...stuff gets suppressed...tensions...gossiping...and finally a big blow out...enemies made...people move out...

Now multiply all those annoyances by a million times (give or take!) when you enter into a community type situation where there's alot of people living and working on the same piece of land...man oh man...deep breathes and long solitary walks...

So, here we are in the year 2012...

Back in the 60s and 70s people flocked to the country to start their own community's.

But just as quickly as it began, the commune's ended...or did they?

Not really, just the names changed... "intentional community's" and "ecovillages" are flourishing all over the world.

In Shawnigan Lake, B.C....O.U.R. ECOVILLAGE (http://ourecovillage.org/) is one of those community's still carrying on that flame today.

They receive up to 10,000 visitors every year!...and so ohme made movies went out to talk to executive director and co-founder BRANDY GALLAGHER and hearth keeper PATRICK JACKSON to hear they're perspective on what they've seen from people coming and going at their village.

with the passing of LORNE...i got to know him pretty good while being at moonmonsters secret cave...as he lived in the trailer home next door...he'd come in and shoot the shit about music, the canucks, etc...he'd always leave by telling a funny joke...he was dying of cancer and going through alot but it never brought him down...he partied hard until the end...he was my friend and i'll miss him...

Well, this morning i woke up and guess what?...i began to see in the colour purple...so i reached for my purple pants and my purple tshirt...put my purple shoes on...went to the library and saw purple backpacks and purple kids chairs...walked downtown and heard jimi hendrix "purple haze" coming out of someone's car...stopped off at the farmer's market and bought some purple carrots and purple potatoes...a dealer asked me if i wanted any "purple" weed...back home listened to asap rocky's "purple swag"...put my purple yoga pants on, did some yoga and then dyed my hair purple...went to bed and counted purple sheep until i went to sleep...
